Our town of Ossett has a rich history dating back to well before the time of the Doomsday Book in 1086. The Vikings settled here first and named their settlement Oslaset.

Ossett War Memorial

WW1 and WW2 Commemoration
409 Ossett people gave their lives in the two World wars.

Their names are engraved on stones around the base of the War Memorial.

Ossett Town Hall

Dating back to 1908
It was built on the site of the old Ossett Grammar School and some shops that were demolished.

In 2021 the Town Hall is being refurbished at a cost of £500,000.

Gawthorpe Water Tower

Built to supply Ossett's Water
This famous Ossett landmark is no longer in use, but has recently been granted Grade II Listed Building status and will be preserved for the town.
