Dearnley's shop in Ossett Green as it was in 1922

This picture of Dearnley's shop in the Green, Ossett was taken in 1922 and is a very good example of the type of general store that served the residents of Ossett before the advent of supermarkets. There were many shops like this one in the various areas of the town and; as you can see from the iconic signs, they sold just about everything. The shop was demolished in 1966. My thanks to Martin Dearnley for the photograph.
