Ossett Bowling Club 1900s

Ossett Bowling Club members in action circa 1910. The clubhouse in the background is that of Ossett Cricket Club and by the look of the crowds, there was a game in progress when this photograph was taken.

The club's location is Dimple Wells Lane, Ossett and the clubhouse has now been extended under the stewardship of the Ossett Cricket and Athletic Club who offer function rooms for business meetings, parties, weddings, funerals, and sports training.

My thanks to Pat Broughton (nee Milner) for this photograph. Pat is an ex-pupil of Ossett Grammar School, but has now escaped to live in rural Sussex.

Westwood Bowl 1906

A wooden bowl presented on the 25th August 1906 to Mr. William Westwood (1857 - 1929), the then Captain of the Ossett Bowling Club on the occasion of the club winning a local bowling trophy. My thanks to Caroline Brook-Jackson for sending me the picture.
